Gendarmerie officers confiscated 24,000 bottles of luxury perfume imitations and detained two suspects in a warehouse raid in Istanbul on Feb. 19.
The suspects created fake barcodes and stock numbers for the luxury perfume imitations, and sold the products on deceptive online stores they created in online marketplaces, the Smuggling and Organized Crime bureau of the gendarmerie noted.
The fake barcodes created by the suspects directed to the original perfume's website when scanned, gendarmerie also said.
