AKP mayor conducts local election campaign in high school

Istanbul’s Çekmeköy district Mayor Ahmet Poyraz, from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), conducted a local election campaign in a high school, the daily BirGün reported on Feb. 8.

During his visit to TOKİ High School in the district on Feb. 7, Poyraz campaigned the election promises of Murat Kurum, AKP’s Istanbul mayoral candidate.

Poyraz also shared a video of his visit to the high school on his social media account.

In the video, a high school student is also seen saying he has turned 18 and that he will vote for the AKP in the local elections to be held on March 31, 2024.

Poyraz has been renamed as AKP’s Çekmeköy mayoral candidate. In the 2019 local elections, he received 42.92% of the votes, followed by the main opposition CHP’s candidate Seyfettin Yıldırım who remained at 32.23%.
