13 unionized teachers detained in Diyarbakır

Police raided 15 homes belonging to members of Turkey’s Union of Education Workers (Eğitim-Sen) and detained 13 members in southeastern Diyarbakır on Nov. 6. While the teachers were taken to the police station, their lockers were raided.

Police raided the homes of some 15 members of Turkey’s Union of Education Workers (Eğitim-Sen) in southeastern Diyarbakır and detained 13, Mesopotamia Agency reported on Nov. 6.

While the detained workers were taken to the Diyarbakır Police Headquarters, their school lockers were also searched.

The teachers who were detained were named as Şenay Koç, Zeynep Alak, Kasım Aydın, Hacer Alp, Hamdin Öztekin, Yıldırım Arslan, Abbas Şahin, Saliha Zorlu, Tahir Çetin, Recep Şimşek, Mehmet Baydemir, Emin Üzer and Devrim Durucan who worked in the Silvan district of the province.
