Turkey’s Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAŞ) is preparing to increase natural gas prices by over 10 percent in October, according to reporting by the Dünya newspaper.

Sources told the newspaper that the price increase proposal had been conveyed to the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry. BOTAŞ has reportedly only demanded a price increase for industrial use, but the ministry approaches the issue cautiously due to the sector’s sensitivity.

“It has been said that the (price) increase towards the natural gas price use for electricity production has been finalized and that the issue for other consumption groups will be decided in a couple of days depending on possible scenarios,” the newspaper wrote.
