Authorities have warned a cold snap and snowfall will arrive in Istanbul on March 9 evening and last until early next week.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality said arctic temperatures and snowfall are expected in Turkey’s largest city by population on March 9 and will last until early next week.

“According to [Disaster Coordination Centre] AKOM data, Istanbul will be impacted by a cold snap of arctic temperatures as of Wednesday evening. Our teams will stay vigilant against the freezing cold and snowfall that are expected to be effective until the beginning of [next] week,” the municipality said.
