Demirtaş taken to hospital for examinations
Former HDP co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş was taken to a hospital for planned examinations on Dec. 9. Following the surfacing of rumors regarding the visit stemming from an emergency, a statement was released, saying that the visit was planned. "He is feeling well," it said.

Former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş was taken to a hospital for examinations on Dec. 9.
Demirtaş, who was arrested on Nov. 4, 2016 on charges related to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), was taken to Trakya University Hospital at 5:30 p.m. and was brought back to jail two hours later.
His lawyer and sister Aygül Demirtaş said last week that the former co-chair has been suffering from heart issues, but wasn't taken to a hospital despite the severity of the situation.
A statement was released on Dec. 9 to deny rumors on social media regarding Demirtaş being taken to the hospital due to an emergency.
"His planned examinations were carried out and he is feeling well," the statement read.
