Domestic tourists flock to historical, scenic locations on Eid holiday

As Turkey’s domestic tourists took advantage of the nine-day Eid holiday, historical and scenic sites were flooded with large crowds. The Istiklal Avenue and Prince’s Islands were popular destinations in Istanbul, meanwhile, the ancient Göbeklitepe and Zeugma sites hosted record numbers of visitors.

Many in Turkey chose domestic destinations for the Eid holiday. 

In Istanbul, same-day visitors formed long queues at the ferry terminals to the Prince’s Islands.
