Iraqi Kurdistan sentences two to death over killing of Turkish diplomat

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has sentenced two people to death over the killing of a Turkish diplomat last year.

The Erbil Second Penal Court handed death penalty to two individuals in the case into the killing of Osman Köse and two Iraqi nationals, Rudaw reported.

"The court handed sentences to six people. Two were sentenced to death, one was sentenced to a year behind bars and the remaining three were given two years in prison each," lawyer Birzo Said told Rudaw.

Köse was killed on July 17, 2019 in an armed attack on a restaurant in Erbil.
