List of Turkey's top taxpayers announced

Turkey's annual top 100 taxpayer list has been announced. Out of the list of 100, 57 taxpayers asked to remain anonymous. The Turkish Central Bank came in the first place last year with 10.6 billion lira paid in taxes. With 6 places out of the top 10, banking still seems to be the highest earning sector in Turkey.

Turkey's annual top 100 taxpayer list has been announced. After assessing income and corporate tax declarations, the Turkish Revenue Administration published the list of the country's 100 top taxpayers for the 2018 tax year. Out of the 100 taxpayers featured in the list, 57 taxpayers asked to remain anonymous.

While the top two taxpayers asked to remain anonymous, Mustafa Rahmi Koç came in the third place with 54.2 millin lira. Koç was the person who paid the highest income taxes in 2013.

Following Rahmi Koç, others in the top 10 were: Şarık Tara, Erman Ilıcak, Suna Kıraç, Mehmet Ömer Koç, Mehmet Sinan Tara and Gönenç Gürkaynak. The tenth person on the list also wished to remain anonymous.

According to the list, base income declarations saw an 13.67 percent increase compared to previous year (March 2017) and collected tax total amount saw a 14.44 percent increase. On the other hand, it should be noted that base corporate income declarations rose by 29 percent compared to previous year (April 2017) and total tax collected increased by 38.61 percent.

A total of 3,540,136 taxpayers in Turkey declared income taxes in March 2019 regarding their income in the 2018 taxation period.

A total of 87.9 billion lira was declared as income and 23.6 billion of that amount was collected as income tax.

Corporate ranking

As for corporations and institutions that declared taxes, the Turkish Central Bank came in the first place last year with 10.6 billion lira paid in taxes.

The Central Bank was followed by, Ziraat Bank, Garanti Bank, Turkey İş Bank, Turkish Petrols, ISDEMİR, ERDEMİR, Turkey Vakıfbank, Yapı Kredi Bank and Eti Mining.
