Main opposition leader Kılıçdaroğlu’s brother dies at 68

Celal Kılıçdaroğlu, the brother of the main opposition CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, has passed away at the age of 68 due to heart failure.

The main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s brother Celal Kılıçdaroğlu died on Nov. 18 at the age of 68.

Celal Kılıçdaroğlu had lost his life in his home in the northwestern province of Kocaeli due to heart failure.

Kılıçdaroğlu was treated in the intensive care unit in the last month due to his illness.

Kılıçdaroğlu laid to rest following a funeral ceremony held at the Tavşantepe Cemevi in the İzmit district of the Kocaeli province.

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, CHP’s Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, Party for Change in Turkey (TDP) leader Mustafa Sarıgül and several other CHP and Good (İYİ) Party members attended the ceremony.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan offered condolences to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and said “It is with deep sadness that I learned of the death of your brother Celal Kılıçdaroğlu. May God have mercy on him, my condolences to you and all his family members.”
