Feti Yıldız, the deputy chairman of Turkey's Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has become the first Turkish lawmaker known to have been infected with the novel coronavirus.

Yıldız announced on Twitter on April 6 that he was being admitted to a hospital after testing testing positive for the virus.

Yıldız reportedly also suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
