Turkish Environment and Urbanization Ministry has started 24/7 live broadcast from Lake Salda, which is also known as Turkey's Maldives, after construction attempts in the area caused uproar on social media.
"We are broadcasting via a camera system we set up in the area in order for our citizens to momentarily follow our efforts to protect Lake Salda," the ministry said on Twitter on April 26.
Pictures of heavy machinery around the lake in the southwestern province of Burdur prompted outrage on social media. Following backlash, Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum said that security cameras would be installed to the area and the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ) said that a probe was launched into the construction efforts.
