Mysterious monolith disappears after short sighting in Göbeklitepe

A monolith, triangular in shape and metallic in composition, disappeared mysteriously from the ancient site of Göbeklitepe, after a short sighting at the world's oldest temple, which prompted surprise among locals. Many people visited the slab with an inscription written in the ancient Gökturk alphabet that read “Look at the sky if you want to see the Moon.” Authorities on Feb. 7 had banned people from visiting the area.

A monolith that mysteriously appeared at the ancient site of Göbeklitepe, the world's oldest temple, disappeared just as mysteriously on Feb. 9 in the southeastern province of Urfa.
