Nationalist party 'highly content' with Erdoğan's decision to reject minister's resignation

AKP-ally MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli has said that his party is "highly content" with President Erdoğan's decision to reject Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu's resignation. "The MHP is highly content with the fact that the resignation was rejected," Bahçeli said in a tweet early on April 13.

Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli has said that the party is "highly content" with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's decision to reject Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu's resignation.

"The MHP is highly content with the fact that the resignation was rejected," Bahçeli said in a tweet early on April 13, adding that Turkey has been showing a "great stance on the issues of terror, economy, regional problems and global impositions."

"Soylu's intention to resign bears the risk of disrupting this spirit of struggle in such a fragile period. Mr. Soylu has been successfully fulfilling his duty as a minister that he assumed during Turkey's most delicate period," he also said, referring to the appointment of the minister after the July 15, 2016 failed coup attempt.

The MHP is a staunch ally of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
