Refugees, homeless brace for winter amid COVID-19 in Istanbul

The refugees and the homeless in Istanbul are facing a harsh winter amid the COVID-19 pandemic. A video shared on social media showed dozens of people sleeping on the streets in the cold weather.

The refugees and the homeless in Istanbul are bracing for a difficult winter amid the COVID-19 pandemic in Istanbul. 

Dozens of people sleeping on the streets were seen in a video shared on social media late on Nov. 28. 

The footage from Istanbul's Saraçhane showed the homeless and refugees struggling to warm themselves away from sights in an underpass since a curfew had been in place throughout the night. 

Istanbul Municipality teams took those sleeping on the streets to a hotel after the video went viral.
