Strong winds in the Gemlik district carried sea saliva as far as 600 meters inland, concerning locals.
Separately, in the northwestern Tekirdağ province, fishermen's boathouses were covered ın sea saliva, preventing them from going out to sea, Süleymanpaşa Water Products Cooperative Chair İbrahim Pehlivanoğlu said.
"Smal fishers' boats can't go out anymore either, saliva filled up the entire boathouse," Pehlivanoğlu said.
The chairman urged the local government to take action about the saliva, noting that it also causes an unpleasant odor that is disturbing for residents as well.
The spreading saliva also threatens tourism, experts have warned, amid concerns of its effects on the Turkish beaches over the summer.
