Six detained for attacking CHP’s election office in Istanbul

Six people have been detained for attacking the main opposition CHP’s election office in Istanbul’s Ataşehir district on April 19.

The Istanbul Governor’s Office has announced that the police detained six people who attacked the main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) election office in the Ataşahir district on April 19.

Detention warrants were issued for eight people after the attack.

The governor’s office said that the detainees had fired into the air with blank cartridge guns, cut the CHP banners and wrote on the CHP building’s windows.

Also on April 6, the CHP Istanbul provincial office had come under attack. Assailants in a driving car had fired into the air at a motorway opposite the building.
