Turkey removes customs taxes for mask fabrics along with 125 intermediate products
Turkey will be lifting a 20-percent customs tax on melt blown fabrics used for mask production. An executive order also removed customs taxes on 125 other intermediate products that aren't produced domestically.

Turkey will be removing a 20-percent customs tax on imported mask fabrics until the end of September, the official gazette reported on June 30.
Known as "melt blown," mask fabrics are produced to be extra absorbent, which is why they're used for diapers too.
An executive order from the president noted that the zeroing-out of customs taxes was an attempt to lower cost for manufacturers, to support competition and to lower final prices.
The executive order also removed customs taxes for 125 intermediate products, meaning products that are used to produce a final good.
The regulation came simultaneously with a move by the European Union (EU) to cancel taxes on intermediate products that are not produced in the union.
