Turkey to limit alcohol-based, lemon-scented traditional cologne exports

Turkey’s traditional lemon-scented cologne will now be subject to pre-approval by the Trade Ministry in an attempt to ensure domestic supplies of the alcohol-based disinfectant amid the coronavirus outbreak. Disinfectants, ethyl alcohol and hydrogen peroxide will also require ministry approval prior to export, the official gazette said March 18.

Exports of Turkey’s alcohol-based, lemon-scented traditional cologne will now be subject to approval from the Trade Ministry due to a sharp spike in demand amid the coronavirus outbreak, Turkey’s official gazette reported March 18.

The 80-percent alcohol traditional Turkish cologne is able to kill viruses, which is why it has seen a massive boost in demand as part of the Turkish household’s protection against the coronavirus.

Disinfectants, ethyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and meltblown fabric will also be subject to ministry approval for export.
