Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel held a 23-second-long press conference to respond to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's remarks about CHP head Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.

The president called Kılıçdaroğlu "shameless" after the latter said that the deaths of Turkish citizens in Iraq were Erdoğan's fault.

"Shameless man. I sent you my defense minister, my interior minister to debrief you. You are not worthy of these," Erdoğan said on Feb. 17 about Kılıçdaroğlu.

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Özel broke a record shortly after the president's remarks by holding a 23-second-long press conference.

"I'm here to hold the shortest press conference in the history of parliament. We return all accusations, insults and slurs uttered by AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan about our chairman back to him," Özel said.

In a video released shortly after the president's statements, Kılıçdaroğlu said that Erdoğan was "out of control."

"He insults me for asking about those who died. He insults me because he's out of control. But I will continue to ask about our 16 losses," Kılıçdaroğlu said.
