An Istanbul court has sentenced a Turkish man to seven months and 15 days in prison for posting a picture on Reddit with an alcohol bottle in a mosque on charges of “publicly insulting the religious values adopted by a segment of the population.”

The court also ruled for the release of him, who was in prison for almost one month.

In the latest trial of the case, the 19-year-old man “promised” to not insult the religious values of any group, “even if it is a minority,” Demirören News Agency reported on Oct. 11.

The sentence will not be applied if the man does not commit another crime within five years.

The 19-year-old man was arrested on Sept. 16 after posting a photo on Reddit with an alcohol bottle inside a mosque, saying “If they (the police) can find which mosque (I am in) among 3,200 mosques…”
