Two improvised explosives cause damage in central Istanbul
Two improvised explosive devices went off in the early hours of Jan. 23 in the central Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, the Governor's Office said. The devices were placed at the entrance of two apartment buildings, shattering the windows of an apartment nearby.

Two improvised explosive devices (IED) went off around 1.40 a.m. in Istanbul's central Beyoğlu district, shattering the windows of an apartment nearby, the Istanbul Governor's Office said on Jan. 23
The explosives, made out of lighter fluid and left by unidentified persons, didn't cause any injuries, the Governor's Office said.
The explosions took place in the Keçici Piri and Kaptan Paşa neighborhoods of Beyoğlu, within five miles of the city center and Taksim Square.
Police taped off the scene of two apartment buildings in front of which the IEDs were placed. An investigation is ongoing.
