U.S. President Joe Biden on July 12 expressed confidence that the United States will be able to sell F-16 aircraft to Turkey. Biden made the comment to reporters as he left the NATO summit in Lithuania.

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on July 12 that he is "more hopeful than ever" for the sale of F-16 fighter jets from the United States. Erdoğan was speaking at a news conference after the NATO summit.

Biden's administration will move ahead with the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey in consultation with Congress, national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on July 11, a day after Ankara gave the green light for Sweden to join NATO.
