A dispute over burial plots with a sea view resulted in one person being hospitalized while purchasing plots at the new cemetery established by the municipality in Turkey’s Trabzon province.

After Turkey’s northern Trabzon province’s metropolitan municipality has opened a new cemetery area with a sea view, chaos erupted among individuals vying to secure these burial places.
Due to the high demand for burial plots adjacent to a holy mosque in the province, the municipality decided to open up a new area for burials.
After the preliminary applications, the municipality informed the citizens that the sales for the plots had started.
However, when many people simultaneously arrived at the cemetery and raced to select burial plots, particularly those with a sea view, chaos ensued.
There were frequent tensions during the sales where only two officials were present, and the lottery method was not applied.
On the other hand, it costs 17,000 Turkish liras ($622) to buy a single plot in the area.
While people in the area said that at least a thousand people had applied to the area, one person was hospitalized after arguing with others over the same burial place.
