Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca has urged people to resist for two months, since summer will weaken coronavirus (COVID-19).
"Let's resist for two months. The effects of the virus decrease in summer," Koca said in a tweet on March 12, adding that it's the anticipation of the ministry's Science Commission.
"The fact that close contacts are common indoors during winter increases the spread of the virus," he also said.
2 AY DİRENELİM. YAZIN VİRÜSÜN ETKİSİ AZALIYOR. Bilim Kurulumuzun öngörüsü bu yöndedir. Bu hastalık daha çok bir kış enfeksiyonu. Tedbir alırsak, yayılmayı önlersek, büyük olasılıkla, 2 ayda hayat normale döner. pic.twitter.com/6ewRJ9arpd— Dr. Fahrettin Koca (@drfahrettinkoca) March 12, 2020
"This disease is more of a winter infection. If we adopt measures and prevent it from spreading, it's highly likely that life will return to normal in two months," he added.
Koca on March 11 reported Turkey's first coronavirus case without specifying the whereabouts of the person.
