Turkish Medical Association claims number of coronavirus cases above 2,000 in Istanbul

The Turkish Medical Association (TTB) has claimed that the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases is above 2,000 in Istanbul. The association also said that the number of cases in the western province of İzmir is around 700, while nearly 70 patients are suspected of being infected with the virus in the southeastern province of Urfa.

The Turkish Medical Association (TTB) has claimed that the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases is above 2,000 in Istanbul.

Sharing statistics it obtained from provincial medical chambers on Twitter, TTB said that over 100 doctors and healthcare professionals were infected in Istanbul as of March 30.

The association also said that the number of cases in the western province of İzmir is around 700, while nearly 70 patients are suspected of being infected with the virus in the southeastern province of Urfa.

Regarding the southern province of Adana, the TTB said that nearly 550 patients are at hospitals on suspicion or diagnosis of coronavirus.

"Fifteen out of 63 patients in intensive care are intubated. Two were released from hospitals. Four doctors and 12 healthcare professionals are being surveilled on suspicion of coronavirus," TTB said.

According to the association, 150 people were hospitalized on suspicion of coronavirus in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır. It also said that five people died because of the virus.
