A total of 35,868 businesses were inspected around Turkey on April 14, with authorities checking whether the measures introduced against the coronavirus on March 24 are being followed.
"Not adhering to social distancing measures and to allow produce to be touched by customers were among the reasons why businesses were fined," the Interior Ministry said.
New regulations mandate grocery stores to function only between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., to allow a limited number of customers into the service area, to guide customers in line to stand one meter apart and for all persons in the stores to wear personal protective equipment.
