Eating at the same table with others is not safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, Turkey's Health Ministry Coronavirus Committee Member Prof. Tevfik Özlü said on social media on Sept. 30.
"Eating and drinking together isn't safe during the pandemic, sharing a meal at a table isn't safe. Everyone should eat in isolation or at safe distances from each other," the expert said.
The professor said that sharing meals, regardless of whether it was at a home or in a restaurant, was an ideal situation for COVID-19 to spread.
"Naturally, nobody wears a mask. You're unprotected, and you're sitting at a table, so you can't keep a distance," Özlü said.
The committee member also urged everyone to check for kitchen staff's use of personal protective equipment if they choose to go out for a meal.COVID-19 positive individuals to wear electronic bracelets under quarantine in Turkey
