Pieces of an 2,000-year-old diadem and an ancient sarcophagus were recovered during a construction in the western province of Izmir on June 12.
Recovered during the construction of a building's foundation, the sarcophagus and diadem were accompanied by some ceramics, and all were dated back to the Hellenistic era.
All of the remains are thought to have belonged to royalty or senior officials.
The Izmir Museums Directorate took custody of the diadem pieces and the sarcophagus was reportedly renovated.
The location where the remains were found was declared an archaeological protection area, and will be unavailable for construction without permission.
