A jeweler in the southeastern province of Kahramanmaraş embroidered surgical masks with gold for weddings and values them at around 14,000 Turkish Liras (about $2,000).

A model wears the gold-embroidered mask, a gold sash and holds a crown.

Kahramanmaraş Jewelers Chamber Chair Hacı Mustafa Öz said that they had started the "era of the gold embroidered mask" as masks are mandatory during wedding ceremonies for everyone including bride and grooms.

"We saw that brides on stage and simple masks created a visual disaccord," said Öz.

Decked with an average 30 grams of gold, the masks can carry up to 10 grams and would be priced accordingly.
