The Istanbul police department has displayed the counterfeit alcoholic beverages seized during an operation undertaken simultaneously in Turkey's nine provinces on Dec. 12.
As part of the operation, a total of 80 people have been so far detained, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Dec. 14. Thirty three more suspects are sought as part of the investigation.
In the operations conducted across 147 locations in Istanbul, Adana, İzmir, Hatay, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Şanlıurfa, Niğde and Aksaray, the police seized 256 tons of counterfeit alcohol along with equipment to counterfeit these beverages.
