Turkey's social media celebrates Erdoğan birthday, he thanks in Twitter video

Turkey's social media celebrated President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's 66th birthday with the hashtags "Happy Birthday Man of the People" and "Happy Birthday RTE." Erdoğan himself shared a video message expressing his gratitude. "I will never leave you alone," Erdoğan said in his video response.

Hashtags "Happy Birthday Man of the People" and "Happy Birthday RTE" trended on Twitter in Turkey Feb. 26 in honor of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's 66th birthday.

While the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader celebrated his birthday, special images were shared on the AKP's social media sites.

AKP's Istanbul Office shared a montage of Erdoğan over the years with the caption "A life committed to his country and nation."

"O leader who carries the fate of a country, the prayers of a whole nation and the worries of the oppressed... We know that your burden was passed on to you from ancestors. Here's to many years with your leadership, courage and foresight," Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu said in a tweet.

Vice President Fuat Oktay also shared a video montage of Erdoğan with citizens over the years.

"There are births that add life to a government and to a nation. I wish our president, whom we are honored to walk side-by-side with, a happy, healthy and long life," Oktay said in his tweet.

AKP Deputy Sare Aydın shared one of many video montages made for Erdoğan's birthday in a tweet where she wrote "Happy birthday Mister President <3 May Allah bless us with your presence."

As a response to the posts about his birthday, Erdoğan shared a video message of himself expressing his gratitude, and captioned it with the words "I will never leave you alone."

Erdoğan also used the hashtag "Happy Birthday Man of the People" in his tweet.
