Duvar EnglishTurkish Airlines extends flight cancellations into June
Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines (THY), which is set to resume its domestic flights on June 5, has announced the safety measures to avoid the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Bilal Ekşi, CEO of the company, said on May 26 that carry-on bags will not be allowed in the cabin area and only handbags will be permitted.
He said that passengers will board and get off the plane one by one, waiting for their seating number to be called out. The airlines requires passengers to wear face masks and recommends bringing an extra mask for flights longer than 4 hours.
“No queue in the corridors and no contact. Board on the plane with the announcement according to the seating number,” Ekşi wrote on Twitter. He also said that boarding the plane will start from the rear of the plane, whereas getting off the plane will start from the front-seats.
“Put your mask on. Have a spare mask to change it every four hours. Maintain your physical distance, pay attention to this as much as possible and wherever this is is possible. Pay attention to hygiene, wash your hands and travel using online services as much as possible,” he wrote.
Turkish Airlines announced on May 20 that it was extending the cancellation of its domestic flights to June 4 and international flights to June 10.
