The Turkish Federation of Women's Associations has urged a university to take action against one of its professors who blamed children in domestic sexual abuse cases.
Mücahit Dilekmen, a professor in the department of psychological counseling at Atatürk University in the eastern province of Erzurum, cited “being a girl aged between 6-8” and “the existence of seductive behaviors that develop suddenly at the girl” among the “reasons of domestic sexual abuse” in his lecture notes.
The Turkish Federation of Women's Associations shared on Twitter these lectures notes prepared by the professor for the “Child Development” class.
In its Twitter post, the NGO asked Atatürk University what kind of an action they took against Dilekmen. The NGO also urged Minister of Labor, Social Services and Family Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk to look into the issue.
