Turkish Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank has announced that Turkey developed "nationalized" electronic bracelets and they will be delivered to the Justice Ministry starting from September for testing.
Varank on Aug. 3 said that no successful tenders had been held until now despite the legislation on Industry Cooperation Projects being in force for a long time.
"We'll be able to use this product without relying on anyone. There are demands for this product from abroad," Varank said during a visit to Ortem Electronics, adding that the electronic bracelets will be produced completely in Turkey starting from Jan. 1, 2021.
During his visit, Varank examined the prototypes of the electronic bracelets and received information from the Ortem General Manager Ömer Şahin Karaman.
Saying that electronic bracelets are used in Turkey for individuals on probation, Varank noted that the country was importing them from an Israeli company previously.
"The first batch will started to be delivered in September. A switch to foreign products to domestic ones will be carried out starting from October," he said.
