Duvar EnglishErdoğan: Reopening of schools to begin with preschool, first-grade students
COVID-19 cases have been so far seen among staff and teachers of 172 schools, Turkey's Education and Science Workers’ Union (Eğitim-Sen) said on Sept. 7.
Teachers are currently holding online make-up classes. Schools were initially scheduled to open Aug. 31, but authorities announced that students will instead take online courses starting on this date.
The union noted the crucial role played by transparent flow of information in overcoming the pandemic, adding that this is why they have shared updated lists of educational institutions where the virus was spotted.
Precautions taken against the pandemic by educational institutions are not sufficient, the union added, and they hope to help the public take measures themselves to shield against the pandemic.
