The Turkish Interior Ministry’s coronavirus precautions have led to the closure of some 149,382 workplaces amid an outbreak that has contaminated 191 and killed three people in Turkey as of March 19.

The Interior Ministry’s order temporarily closed all cafes, wedding venues, cinemas, theaters, restaurants, concert halls, performance centers, gyms, internet cafes and indoor playgrounds as of 12.01 a.m. on March 17 to curb the transmission of the novel coronavirus.

While some 187 businesses were fined and shut down for failing to comply with the ministry’s guidelines, the ministry filed official complaints against the owners 37 of those businesses.

21 percent of the businesses were dining halls, 16 percent coffee houses and 13 percent Internet cafes.
