Turkish Trade Ministry has made a number of changes in the customs processes, making bringing gold from abroad easier.

The regulations posted in the Official Gazette on April 1 encompassed changes in how the gold brought into the country from abroad will be declared to the customs administration.

According to the new regulations, the gold will not be sent to laboratory analysis if its analysis processes were carried out in the accredited laboratories other than the customs laboratory since authorities will take these laboratories' analysis reports into account for a year beginning from the gold's declaration registration date.

The move aimed to prevent the loss of time and money that stemmed from the gold being analyzed in a laboratory.

On March 3, changes were also made in the amount of gold that authorities allowed to be brought into the country, increasing the upper limit to five kilograms.
