School principal laid off for insulting students, measuring skirt length

A high school principal in Siirt was laid off after the release of a voice recording where he is heard yelling at and insulting students about the length of their skirts and pants. The Ministry of National Education announced that in addition to his dismissal, the principal was also under investigation for "bullying" and "insulting students."

A high school principal in Siirt was laid off after a recording of him was published where he could be heard yelling insults at students and measuring the lengths of their skirts and pants.

The recording was shared with the public by Meral Danış Beştaş, Siirt Member of Parliament from pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP). Beştaş said that the principal of Siirt Kurtalan High School was bullying students and called for his dismissal.

“Principal Fersende Karataş and Vice Principal Melek Misal Ceylan are insulting and degrading them by concerning themselves with their hair and the length of their skirts and pants,” said Danış Beştaş in a social media post. “He must be dismissed immediately.”

The Ministry of Education announced on Friday that the principal had been laid off and he was being investigated on the charges of charges of “mobbing and insult.”
