In a newly issued presidential decree, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed new rectors to six universities. The decision was released in the Official Gazette. However, there has been a mistake and the decision read that Prof. Dr. İsmail Bakan was appointed to Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University.

A correction came shortly after the release of the decision which read that “the remark of ‘Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University’ has been corrected as ‘Kahramanmaraş İstiklal University.’”

Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) group deputy chair Özgür Özel slammed such a mistake and tweeted: “We have also seen this! In an unbalanced, unchecked, uncontrolled system, we have seen this at last. We are facing a President who appoints a rector to the wrong university. How is it the case a wrong (presidential) decree is prepared? How is it signed, issued? Not long left until we will save the nation from this mediocrity.”
