Erdoğan meets Hungary's Orban to strengthen bilateral ties

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during his visit.
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was also present at the meeting in the Beştepe complex in the capital Ankara province.
The Presidency’s Directorate of Communications released a statement regarding Erdoğan's meeting with Orban. According to the statement, the discussions focused on Turkey-Hungary bilateral relations and regional and global issues.
During the meeting, Erdoğan expressed a commitment to strengthening the "excellent" and century-old Turkey-Hungary relations. He emphasized the importance of increasing efforts to raise the mutual trade volume to $6 billion.
Erdoğan conveyed his satisfaction in hosting Orban and his delegation for the closing ceremony of the 2024 Turkey-Hungary Cultural Year. He also expressed a desire to boost cooperation in energy and various other fields.
Erdoğan highlighted that recent developments in Syria demonstrated the accuracy of Turkey’s humanitarian and principled foreign policy. He stressed the necessity of collaboration with EU countries on counterterrorism, Syria's reconstruction, and reforming existing institutions.
