PodcastFenerbahçe officially sign Mesut Özil
Turkish football giant Fenerbahçe on Jan. 27 officially signed Mesut Özil in a ceremony.
Özil sat next to Fenerbahçe chair Ali Koç and Emre Belözoğlu, the club's sporting director, and answered questions from fans and reporters. His wife Amine Gülşe and daughter Eda were in the audience.
During the ceremony, Özil said that he is very excited and happy to be joining Fenerbahçe.
The 32-year-old midfielder noted that he wants to start playing as soon as possible. "I believe that I will experience championship with Fenerbahçe," Özil said.
Upon two separate questions from reporters, Özil ruled out returning to Bundesliga and playing for the German national football team. "I never go back when I enter a path," he said.
