The bodies of four and eight-year-old brothers Hasan and Hüseyin Büyür were found in a construction site near their home in Istanbul hours after they were reported missing on March 8.
The brothers were reported missing around noon in the suburb of Çekmeköy, where police and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) started search efforts.
The kids' bodies were found in a pit in a nearby construction site after the water in a pit in the ground was drained.
Neighborhood residents protested the lack of safety precautions at the site, as security footage showed the children accessing the large pit with ease prior to their death.
Construction in Turkey is a mass industry that blossomed under the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), allowing contractors who are under-qualified to enter the market and build less than sound structures.
