A woman suspected to have been infected with swine flu stirred panic in the southeastern province of Antep, with hospital authorities saying that the patient is kept in isolation.
The 52-year-old woman of foreign origin, identified only by the initials as S.İ., was taken to Dr. Ersin Arslan Training and Research Hospital after suffering from intense coughing, nasal blockage and aches.
Symptoms of swine flu, also known as H1N1 virus, were determined in initial examinations, prompting the hospital to place the woman under surveillance.
"It's not certain that the patient was infected with the H1N1 virus. We have began antibiotic and antiviral treatments in the isolation room," the statement released from the hospital read.
