Four more Taiwanese citizens test positive for coronavirus after return from Turkey

Four more Taiwanese citizens returning from Turkey tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the number of cases among a group of 15 returning to Taiwan from Turkey to nine, Taiwanese Health Minister Shih-Chung said March 17. “The risk of contracting the coronavirus in Turkey is high,” Shih-Chung noted.

Four people returning to Taiwan from Turkey are infected with the coronavirus, Taiwanese Health Minister Shih-Chung said March 17. 

The four new cases brought the total number of infected Taiwanese citizens returning from Turkey to nine out of the 15 in the group. 

'The risk of contracting the virus in Turkey high'

“The risk of contracting the coronavirus in Turkey is high,” Shih-Chung said. 

Taiwan announced 10 new persons were infected with the coronavirus March 17, nine of them having been abroad. 

This is the largest increase in the number of cases in Taiwan since the outbreak has begun, Taiwan News reported March 17. 

The number of persons infected with the coronavirus has reportedly increased to 77 in Taiwan, with only one person reported to have died of the virus so far.

The number of people in Turkey infected with the coronavirus rose to 47 on March 16, with 29 new diagnoses that day.
