The former co-chair of the Germany’s Green Party Cem Özdemir – who is of Turkish descent – tested positive for the coronavirus, he said in a Tweet on March 19.
“I’m okay and nobody should worry about me,” said Özdemir in a video that he shared in which he speaks in German.
Özdemir urged all followers to stay at home and listen to the medical authorities in the fight against coronavirus.
The number of Covid-19 cases in Germany has reached a total of 10,999 people. So far, twenty people have died from the coronavirus in Germany.
The Green Party’s agenda consists in promoting ecological, economic and social sustainability. Özdemir co-chaired the party from 2008 to 2018.
