CNN Türk has barred its field reporters from its building amid the coronavirus outbreak, placing them in prefabricated sheds in the parking lot.
“We are limiting your interactions,” said the CNN Türk administration to the seven reporters and nine videographers they barred from the building.
The reporters are reportedly not allowed to use the bathrooms or dining halls in the building.
Turkey’s Journalists’ Union (TGS) protested the CNN Türk administration in a tweet where they posted a photo of the sheds set up for the barred journalists.
“Is this your understanding of a precaution?” said TGS in a tweet March 22.

A journalist who got sacked from Hürriyet daily, owned by the same holding as CNN Türk, for his union membership, Serkan Ocak shared a photo of the sheds, protesting the administration’s decision.
“This is the treatment that they saw fit for the reporters and videographers while all other employees are allowed access to the building,” Ocak said in a tweet.
