A region that involves five districts in Turkey's Black Sea province of Rize was placed under quarantine to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, the provincial health directorate said March 27.
The first region in Turkey to be placed under quarantine for the coronavirus, no entrances will be allowed to the area.
"Our Kendirli district and the nearby villages of Yeni Selimiye, Beştepe, Esentepe and Maltepe are now under quarantine to get ahead of potential coronavirus cases," said the official statement from the Rize Provincial Health Directorate.

Self-isolation 'problematic' in Turkey's east, southeast, Interior minister says"The names of any residents who have symptoms like a fever or a cough will be reported to the local governments, who will then send health professionals to these addresses."
Anyone with symptoms will be treated in isolation at home or sent to the hospital, the statement added.
Residents are barred from going outside until further notice except for emergencies and all businesses that remain open will be closely inspected.
