Turkey’s coronavirus death toll rises by 55 to 4,007, with new 1,635 cases

Turkey’s death toll from the coronavirus rose by 55 to total 4,007 and new confirmed cases rose by 1,635 to bring the country’s total to 144,749, Health Ministry data showed on May 14.

Turkey’s death toll from the coronavirus rose by 55 to total 4,007 and new confirmed cases rose by 1,635 to bring the country’s total to 144,749, Health Ministry data showed on May 14.

"We have exceeded 1.5 million in the number of total tests. The number of our intensive care and intubated patients is continuing to decrease. The rate of recovery in our total cases is 71.8 percent," Health Minister Fahrettin Koca wrote on his Twitter account.

Koca has recently announced that the outbreak is currently “under control” in Turkey, but also issued a warning that a second wave of infections might break out if measures are not abided by.

The government has introduced a normalization process to ease the coronavirus restrictions, and shopping malls and barbershops across the country became operational on May 11.
