Turkey’s death toll from the coronavirus rose by 29 to total 4,369 and new confirmed cases rose by 987 to bring the country’s total to 157,814, Health Ministry data showed on May 25.

"The number of recovering patients has exceeded 120,000. The need for intensive care continues to decrease. The success reached is a result of harmony shown by 83 million people," Health Minister Fahrettin Koca wrote on his Twitter account.

Turkey is currently under a four-day nationwide lockdown for the Eid al-Fitr holiday to curb the spread of the virus. The curfew came into effect across the country's 81 provinces at midnight on May 22, a day before Eid, which marks the end of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
